If you had the power to change one event in world history, what would it be?

Please feel free to expound on the change you would make, and it's okay not to want to save the world! There's no reward given, so no points will be deducted for being honest if you think your "real" answer would sound too self centered. I gave this question a lot of personal thought before I posted it, frivolous as it might be as far as a question.

After I got past the "I have no right to play God" attitude, (because surely if given any powers like this I would mess things up drastically!), I just had some fun thinking about all of the things I might change if I was given the power to change it. What are your ideas? (I'll be grasping at straws as to where to put this question besides history, so forgive my choices!) I would eliminate World War I entirely This meat-grinder of a war killed off a generation of European young men. It weakened all Europe and laid the foundation stones for the later rise of both Communism and Fascism. THE HOLOCAUST When I saw this question, no doubt in my mind. Ok, this is going to be one long and difficult question to answer because it’s such a complex, sad and event that should never have happened and it also hits very closes to home. I am Jewish so of course knowing 6 million Jews died does it near and dear to me.In history there have been so many monsters, Joseph Stalin, General Saddam Hussein (and the list can go on) have murdered and destroyed so many lives and families.

We are so lucky to live in a democracy rather a dictatorship. So let's now focus on my answer, THE HOLOCAUST. Have you ever thought how awful and, just plain WRONG it is to hate a certain race, religion, etc.? Just because it seemed to that a large part of the European Jewish workers owned banks and, hence made the "money," he didn't like them (of course there is more behind it than this).

Therefore, his mission for himself and the natzis, became to get rid of all the Jews, and going beyond this, any type of people (gypsies, anyone who protected the Jews, etc.) get ride of them too. But bottom line, the main portion of these people that he wanted to kill and be taken away from their homes, their familes, and their lives were the Jews. I don't think anyone can imagine or fathom what it must have been like to live in a concentration camp.(By the way just writing about this gets me upset and angry).

As I have been writing this I am looking up links on World War II and specifically the Holocaust and it is just devastating. First of all, the US president at the time, Roosevelt, didn't do a darn thing! I have mixed opinions about US presidents intervening in other countries activities but for this one, MOST DEFINITE? LY!

What about if a European leader took some action? What could have happened then? Bottom line because people feared people did, at first stand up to him, but when they realized what kind of horrible man he was and how powerful he was, they gave up hope and minded their own business.

Also, for anyone interested and especially for Jews in this world, if these 6 million Jews did not die, can you imagine how much larger the Jewish population would be right now? The Holocaust is the reason why the Jews are a minority. Benefit mankind... I would prevent the library at Alexandria from burning--I'd save all those early books. And there was another fire, in England (and I can’t remember where or when, but early medieval) that destroyed most of the available texts in old english. I’d stop that one, too.

And if I had my say with Bill Gates’ $$$ and influence, I’d be spending a BIG chunk at Project Gutenberg! .

Creation I would change the way or order in which GOD created the world so as to destroy any doubt that HE did it. I mean, making the choice to believe in GOD is formed for various reasons. Some fear going to Hell.

Some have tangible proof in their life experiences. On & on... I’d change it so that MAN had all the proof neccesary to prove that GOD CREATED the world and the universe etc. That Man would have been created already writing the history and painting pictures of it, no, what the heck, that man had it on film, why not, we’re chaning things how we want them here... you get my drift, then there would still be a choice as to whether or not to SERVE GOD, We’d still rebel and there’d still be a need for JESUS / redemption... everything was ok, till HE made that pesky woman and EVERYTHING went haywire then, sheesh, there I was in the garden skipping stone with GOD, romaing around naming animals and all that stuff and then I just had to start chasing around the sheep and GOD said, NO GOOD! Now go to bed!

And I woke up with a rib missing, and this sex pot bodacious WOMAN next to me.......don’t get me started... JUST KIDDING! If I can’t do that, just go ahead and speed things up and bring on the rapture and armegeddon and all thnat the second coming of Jesus and let’s get this whole thing over with and start over! That’s what I’M talking about!

Eliminate the division of humans by race If there were not multiple races, disputes based on race would not materialize. I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
