I have 2 beautiful sets, but I haven't bothered to use either of them at all for a year or two. I always loved a pretty dinner table & enjoyed using my silverplate for special family or company dinners. I usually polished it with each use because it was not weekly or continuous.

I never used the dipping type cleaner because it seems to do a fine job but then it allows the silver to tarnish faster when you store it. I never minded polishing it because it was never a huge chore and not too tarnished at all when I wanted to use it again. I do not use either set anymore because lifestyles have gotten so casual.My family usually shows up in blue jeans for dinner now days.

My husband sells tools and it also helps keep tools from rusting if you place a chunk in a toolbox). You can buy it at a drug store, it looks similar to Vaseline but whiter and no odor. Recently I bought a second set of very nice, elegant 18/10 stainless flatware for dining room use.

I also bought sets for my married family members.It really is beautiful and seems to fit todays lifestyle with ease. I guess I really have to say that I don’t miss using & polishing my silver flatware and my daughters-in-law made a good point.

Yes I do Use Christmas, Thanksgiving, other holidays, and everyone's(in the home) birthdays. Keep in anti-tarnish lined drawer and I polish 1X year.

The answer to both questions is once a year. The flatware comes out for Christmas and that's it. We get it out about a week before Christmas and polish it.

Thankfully because of new inventions this task is much less difficult than it used to be. If you still had to polish the silver the old fashoned way I would probably never use the stuff. Sources: my routine .

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
