Had the newest episode of my favorite TV series in stock which was awesome but it was a bit slow to download. My initial review of Unbox: The cool thing is that I found an episode of a show I missed on Monday night was out already on Amazon on Tuesday night(Itunes didn’t have it yet). I was stoked.To top that off, we are also running a promotion right so they charged me the $1.99 and then gave me a promotional discount of $1.99 so it was free!

Bonus! The not so cool thing is that I thought it would be “Instant” to download and I could begin watching immediately but it averaged over 1 minute per percent to download (or 220 KB per second and I’ve got 3-5 MBS DSL). I’m not sure if the fact that I was hooked up to a VPN (via Ethernet connection) slowed it down.

Since I bought it and began to download at 9:45 PM, I ended up not being able to stay up until it finished downloading. This might be standard but since I’ve never downloaded a TV episode before, I was somewhat disappointed in the transfer time. Today on the 25 minute bus ride home from work, I was able to put on my headphones and partially watch an episode of my favorite TV show "Prison Break" on Amazon Unbox.

That was awesome as the usual boring and mundane bus ride home turned into an enjoyable respite from reality. Overall, I really enjoyed Amazon Unbox and I'll probably use it weekly to buy episodes of series I miss but I'll have to keep in mind that I can't get the instant gratification fix that streaming video provides..

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! This is the best thing to roll out of Amazon in years. Give it a whirl if you haven't tried it.

I watched V for Vendetta and it worked like a charm.

Its solid and has great potential. From what I have seen so far the software and the concept are solid. As long as there is sufficient market interest this will be a very marketable concept.

I couldn't I don't have any Windows computers at home, and unbox videos doesn't play on Mac, Linux, or FreeBSD, so I won't be able to try unbox anytime soon.
