I guess it's hard to know whether or not you would go back unless you were in their shoes. But, I bet that there are some seriously dedicated workers there who will probably go back.
As an ex miner, I probably would... (if I were younger).
At the start of a miners shift, he has 2 tallies, a silver one and a brass one. These tallies serve two purposes, they are a record of who is underground at any time, and they record each mans time underground for wage purposes.
The miner gives the banksman his silver one as he enters the cage to descend the mine, this is when his shift oficially begins, he is now being paid...
When he arrives back on the surface after his stint underground, he gives the banksman his brass tally, his shift is now complete and he is now off the payrole.
Lets hope those Chillean miners get paid for the whole time that they have been underground.
Obviously not! Even the ones who were rescued won't go back :).
I'm pretty sure there will be some lawsuits that arise from this. I don't know if Chile is as litigious as the USA, but if so I'd be reporting to work everyday until the lawsuit was over.
No, not after aanear tragety. That would end my mining career.
Definitely not! I would be horrified of even the thought of going underground again.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
