If I were that trapped miner, I would consider my love-life a second priority. Getting out alive is the primary focus in life-treathening situations, and sexaul activity is defintely less important. Apart from that, I think this problem will sort itself out long before that miner will re-surface.

Both the wife and mistress have about three months to either settle this issue together, without the miner's involvement, and can decide for themselves whether they want any thing to do with him or not. If given the chance, I am very sure he will have a great story, explaining why he had a mistress. That's a talent all cheaters seem to have in common: a talent to make up plausible stories.

I wouldn't care about anything except getting out alive. On the way up think who you are going to run to. That will let the other one know.
