I'm looking 4 favorite childhood books, late 1950s. One was Castle mystery; other Island. Set in England.2 boys, 2 girl I think the titles were "Mystery of the Castle" and "Mystery of the Island," but not sure.
Set shortly after World War II. I read them and re-read them from the library in the mid-1950s, but they could have been written earlier. The author's name may have been Smith.
I'm sure they're out of print, but with Amazon's ability to find old books, I could luck out. I'd like to get them for my grandchildren. The castle story involved an abandoned castle being used by counterfeiters; the island one involved a tunnel to an island (under the English Channel I think).
Children were two pairs of siblings I think. Really got me interested in all things English. Asked by Tuvagrandma 48 months ago Similar questions: favorite childhood books late 1950s Castle mystery Island Set England boys girl Arts > Books > Books - Mystery.

I don't know but may I recommend... I’m afraid I don’t kow about the books you are asking about. However, if you are looking for good mysteries for children, I was a fan of Enid Blyton’s Famous Five books (amongst other things she wrote): amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/002-4009425-64... Enid also wrote some books called "The Island of Adventure" and "The Castle of Adventure" (plus others in the "adventure" series). I never read them myself but it sounds like they might (just might) be the books you are interested in.
amazon.com/Island-Adventure-Castle/dp/03... (sadly out of stock at the moment) The books have been criticised by some for their dated attitudes (they were written some time ago) but that may or may not be an issue for your grandchildren. There’s some information about Enid at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enid_blyton.
Sounds like The Bobsey Twins! I don't know the books myself, but The Bobsey Twins is a series with two pairs of fraternal twins, both boy/girl. Icecorps's Recommendations The Bobsey Twins At Whitesail Harbor Used from: $9.20 The Bobsey Twins: The Secret at the Seashore Used from: $25.00 The Bobsey Twins At School THE BOBSEY TWINS' ADVENTURE IN THE COUNTRY Used from: $3.95 .
The author you're looking for is Enid Blyton and the books you mentioned were part of The Adventure Series featuring siblings Philip, Jack, Dinah and Lucy-Ann. There were 8 books in the series.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
