Your employer is wrong. The IRS website says "every employer engaged in a trade or business who pays remuneration for services performed by an employee, including noncash payments, must file a Form W-2. " So that means they need to file a W-2 even if they DON'T withhold.
You can show your employer the page I linked below. If your employer is not willing to give you your W-2 forms, then contact the local IRS office at:irs.gov/localcontacts/index.htmland if you still don't get help there, contact your state attorney general's office and ask them what to do. Be sure to explain to the IRS and SAG that you need your W-2 forms for school.Html.
Just to clarify, those are two different links at irs. Gov, so make sure to look at them both.
Uh-uh! So you've never filed any tax forms? You didn't declare any income for those three years?
Well, I think you're kind of trapped in a feedback loop. You would have to claim you never worked and your parents has been supporting you. I don't know if the college will buy that.
If they don't, you won't get any financial aid. Maybe you could enroll in a low-cost state college and pay the full cost yourself, or ask your parents for a loan? That's the only thing I can think of.
You've got a problem. Technically, if your boss isn't taking taxes from your pay check, he is either breaking tax laws or you are being coded as a 1099 sub contractor. Even in that case, you still should get an end of the year form from the employer indicating the gross payments made.
Otherwise, you boss is basically paying you,"under the table", which is not kosher with the IRS. And, puts you on a situation of making the decision of breaking the law as well. For, if the employer pays no tax for your benefit, you probably have paid no tax either.
He can't give you a W-2 at years end for your return, without tipping his hand. He saves at least 18% by keeping your pay under the table. Many people get by with this if it is a part time job, mostly domestic or landscape work, although many other catagories can apply. In really gross money, it works out for everyone except the government.
To report this to the IRS would be large trouble for your boss, and you would have to pony up some cash as well. Perhaps the best thing for your college information is to state that you've made x amount of money over the three years doing odd jobs for people. Anything beyond that is opening a big can of worms.
The exception to all of the above is the amount of your yearly pay. There is a minimum amount that must be made in order to pay taxes, but I still think you are still required to file a return. I am not a professional and have no recent experience in tax matters.
A discussion with a CPA will be able to put the story straight. Good Luck!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
