In general, why do ex-Christian atheists often criticize about Christianity more harshly than other atheists?

If you want raw data on the actual amounts, we can use the Australian census results for 2006 and 2011. Using Catholic, Anglican, Uniting and Presbyterian, as well as No Religion we have a decrease in the number of Christians, and an increase in the number of irreligious. As a percentage of the population, the 4 main forms of Christianity went from 25.8%, 18.7%, 5.7% and 3.0% down to 25.3%, 17.1%, 5.0% and 2.8% respectively.

That equates to a decrease in Christianity from around 53% down to only 50%. On the other hand, No Religion increased from 18.7% up to 22.3%. So, the reason there would be more ex-Christians than ex-Atheists is because the number of Atheists is increasing, and the number of Christians is decreasing.

Most atheists are interested in evidence. If you have evidence that the bible is wrong on so many levels, it is impossible to become a christian. Interestingly, the number one reason for becoming an ex-christian is reading the whole bible.

Of course you can be an ex-christian and still believe a God exists. Atheists tend to think we have natural explanations for everything and don't look towards a magical source for answers.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
