In your opinion is the fun and community feel gone from the new askville?

Yep, the fun is gone...I have always liked answering questions, and I enjoy helping others, but it's nice to have some kind of motivation, even if that motivation is additional comments and discussion from other members. It just doesn't seem worth it to answer a question that I have to put any effort into. I liked the points as a personal motivator, too.It was simply a little intrinsic reward for my efforts.

Yea. Even though I am not an active DBer, I agree the fun and the community feel is gone. I would add more but I am depressed.

Well they got what they wanted ,made it back into a simple Qand A web site,and just so they would show us they are not completely heartless made a place for us in the basement next to the boiler. Squeeky-changes-suck 16 months ago .

Yes, it makes me sad. I know it's silly, it's only an internet site, but it used to be so much fun. Maggo told me he won't be coming back, as well as many others I keep in touch with.

We are here on our own free will and none of us that I know of are getting paid to be here,and it is an Amazon site that they can do with ,what they please,and they seem to want us to go hide in the basement or just leave. Squeeky-changes-suck 16 months ago .

Squeeky - Yep, it does feel like the basement, and next to the boiler. In real life I happen to have just such a second apartment and look forward to moving out of it in the near future. Small world.

Maybe it's time to spread our wings, eh? But then I still like to answer questions here so might end up only dropping by for a shorter while during the day, who knows. Keep trucking!

Yeah, us old timers are being put out to pasture, so to speak.

Don't give in guy's, give it a chance, I don't like it either, but I think it still beats other sites like Yahoo were you get attacked by sex manics and more on there. I tried to stay away from the DB, since it got me in trouble there at election time. In fact I almost got thrown out of here.

Now I control my temper. One person here even banned me from her mail. Since then I would like to say we are friends and I respect a lot of things she has to say.

Plus I learned were she was coming from.

Yes...to dehumanize/limit it, when people need human connections is like being in prison. Without love it means nothing. People don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care.

The team doesn't know how important connections between us are for this site to work and be fun/helpful/insightful.

The last changes were bad enough...then they got even farther from helping us this time, even though they meant well. I amouring the lost of a good friend...this site. It is like we are banded from interacting.

The fun and feeling of being part of a Community has been lost. I know that I feel totally isolated from those I've cared about and had interactions with on Discussion Boards. One thing the changes to Askville have accomplished, at least for me, is the fact that I hardly spend any time on here, but I am getting to interact with AV members on Facebook.

More so now than in the past. I wish Mamasu were here to give the AV Team the following! Jpg.

Askville isn't a "community"--it's an INSANE ASYLUM!

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
