Instead of raising taxes on the rich, why don't we just extend those tax cuts to the poor and middle class?

Tax accountants say that the rich have so many loopholes right now that they basically pay 0 taxes as it is. I am sure that government services for the poor will be cut, and that is how the poor will "pay" for it. Also, the sales tax disproportionately affects poor and middle class people.

If you start out with less, and pay the same amount of tax, you are paying more percentage wise of your income. So, the tax cuts will be paid for by the poor and middle class in every sense of the word.

You are seriously misled if you think that only the rich will benefit from the Bush tax control measures. I am a small business owner and make a very very modest income and work about 50 to 60 hours per week to do so. I live in a 1500 sq. foot home and drive a 12 year old car.

Not exactly a "rich" business owner. If Congress lets all of the Bush tax cuts expire, my income tax burden will be $1,350 higher in 2011, compared to full extension of the tax cuts. Maybe that is not a lot of money from your perspective but it is a great deal of money for my family and I.

I know this because I did my own research and calculations to discover the impact for myself. You can do this to. Here is a website that can simplify it for you so that you can see how much the tax cuts affect you personally: http://www.mytaxburden.org/ Don't just listen to the pundits from your own party.

. . Get out there and find out for yourself what the truth is.

The liberals will gain a lot from discontinuing these tax limits. . .

Of course they have characterized them as "tax cuts" for the "ultra-rich" only. They have to in order to get people like you to buy into this. Don't swallow the same old propaganda.

Lastly. . .

Leaving things as they are does not constitute a tax cut. . .

Not leaving them so is a tax increase. Tax increases are NOT IN YOUR BEST INTEREST.. . .

Unless of course you are on welfare.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
