Is a black hole actually a sphere?

Well it's not actually anything. It has an event horizon which is spherical if the black hole is not rotating. If it rotates the sphere deforms into an ellipsoid.

Thanks so much, Ancient. If I may ask, why, when, and with what are some "charged" and some not? Oh, Is there a short answer to why are they are considered to be nothing?

I thought they were the highest concentrations of matter in the universe. Travelroy 1 month ago .

What I meant was that by definition, they're "black", we pretty much can't get any info out of them. We can sort-of estimate where the event horizon is, but since the gravity is so strong, nothing can leave the hole, so we have no access to any info about them. This is the "no hair" theorem.

Thanks! I've been out of the area a while, Ancient. Just interested, do they block light from objects that pass behind them?

I'm kind of slow on the "no hair" theorem--but the name has me grinning from ear to ear. Travelroy 28 days ago .

" "I need help learning physics. Could someone suggest how I should go learning about physics?" "What if the Galactic Core was not a Black Hole, but a super star? Why would this be important to know?

I need help learning physics. Could someone suggest how I should go learning about physics?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
