My company's policy was to provide paid holiday benefits for exempt and nonexempt employees. I was a manager and was a non hourly employee. My timesheets were authorized by my superior. The company had a policy that allowed employees who worked on a holiday to take a day off at a latter date.
However, due to my work load I was unable to do so. The company does not have a sunset date as to when you would no longer be able to take a "make up" date. Do I have the right to expect the company to reimburse the lost benefit( I have since left the company).

Right to Work You don’t say in your profile where you are from. If you live in a "Right to Work" state then you are just wasting time and energy (and a great deal of stress and mental time) on something which isn’t worth it. Don’t get be wrong, I’m not saying you shouldn’t have been compensated for the time you spent at work, but unfortunately, the labor laws favor the employers in most states, and especially in right to work states."Right to Work" essentially means you have the right to work at the terms of employment which you accept.
In the case of an unscrupulous or greedy employer (perhaps that describes where you just left) that generally means, they will push you to work as many hours as you possibly can at a fixed salary. Some companies even have written compensation time (comp-time) policies which are not followed. For instance, if you work on a holiday, you should get paid for that day, AND get another day off (probably two).
But if the company works you so hard that you can’t take time off, then a written policy isn’t worth the paper it’s on. My recommendaion -- as hard as this may be to swallow -- forget about it. They don’t care (they never did) and you’re just going to end up with stress and high blood pressure trying to get something from them.
Don’t let them waste any more of your time by dwelling on the injustice that’s been dealt to you. MOVE ON!.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
