This is not any sort of win for health care reform. If the insurers were making profits off this, they'd continue to do it. I don't expect insurers to offer insurance at a loss.

I expect them to serve as intermediaries between the patient and the provider, negotiating rates. They're entitled to a reasonable profit for that. The problem is that they've been taking large profits, and doing a lousy job of negotiations, so that prices continue to rise faster than inflation.

The only bright side to this is that maybe a new kind of insurance company will come up, one capable of doing what the old ones refused to do, and turn a reasonable profit doing it. Schumpeterian creative destruction. Unfortunately, the destruction always preceded the creation, and people always suffer in between.(Like the current poor economy.

Well, the article tries to scare you, but if you read further into the piece, very few people buy health insurance policies just for their kids. They only try to buy such a policy when they already have a sick kid. So the insurance companies were probably rejecting most attempts to buy such insurance.

And now because of Obamacare, they're closing down that line of business. You can expect to see more fall out because of Obamacare coming.

I'm far less surprised that someone read that article, saw that *some* insurrance companies are going to stop selling *child-only* plans, and instead of claiming *that*, claimed that "health care companies are going to deny insurrance for children". Ugh. And no, I'm also not surprised at the *actual* news, regarldess of your made-up headline.

The fact that corporate greed was somehow unforseen by lawmakers surprises me not one bit.

Sorry, didn't mean to bore you by pointing out your hyperbolistic deceptions.

Don't be sorry. You've always bored me. Rhine44 15 months ago .

If by "always" you mean when you realized I disagreed with you about political nonsense two weeks ago.

You must have a sad life at home. I feel sorry for you. Rhine44 15 months ago .

Nope, pretty content, actually. But hey, thanks for your concern.

The proposed health care bill says you must buy health insurance or go to jail.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
