Celiac mistaken for other diseases Interstingly, this question has come up with 2 friends who had a long and devastating health period where they could not get a diagnosis -and once they did, they were able to manage it and have been fine. My own sense is that now that we have the internet, we can really have more of an impact on the care we get by doing some research on our own. Hope this helps..

1 Excellent question! I have no idea the answer to you question. It just seems logical that there are other conditions with similar symptoms.

I understand that you need to try a gluten free diet for much more than 2 weeks to see if it works... for even up to one year! It may take longer that 2 weeks for your inners to start to heal - that is why it you need to give it plenty of time. Though I must say a close friend did start feeling significantly better after 3 weeks - there are several celiacs in her family so it was a logical idea for her to try it.

Please note! She didn't randomly try this diet - she went through systematic testing with her doctor over several months. It was her doctor who requested she try it.

This same friend is an amazing gluten free cook - she and her sister have been perfecting their recipes for years. Her biological son and her husband have been on the diet for some time. The son is like a new person!

The husband has been doing it for 6+ months with not too much improvement. Their adoptive daughter (young teen) is feeling odd person out! Good Luck!

I look forward to the answers! .

Most people have illnesses that are from celiac that they go to the doctor for. Many will not have stomachaches or diarrhea until they are very bad off. Many people don't know they have it and blood and biospies don't prove it half of the time.

The doctor may say you have ulcers, indigestion etc when it is celiac. The doctors treat the symptoms and not the root cause so things don't go away. Many cancers maybe celiac and doctors may tell them to eat healthy but not the celiac diet.

If they eat whole wheat they would make their immune system go down more. I can spot a celiac person with a few questions and they can stop eating it for 2 weeks and then eat it again and they will see what I am talking about. The people usually know they are celiac before they go to the doctor and ask, if they are celiac.

The doctors are not trained in celiac, so I am sure they will be told many times they are not celiac when they are. If you are celiac on their tests, it is for sure you are celiac, but the tests only diagnose half of the people. The doctors, since they are not trained in it may miss telling people about celiac when the symptoms are staring them in the face, but they are not trained to understand the symptoms and diseases it causes.

Celiac is the root cause of many diseases. When it destroys your intestines it will cause another disease in addition... to it depending on what your next genetic weakness is. Ulcers, IBS, lactose intolerance is celiac.

Try not eating gluten for 2 weeks and then eat it again and you will know if it is bothering you.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
