These things are not new. Movement has always been part of learning a martial art and a combat sport. This is why we don't have to be faster or stronger than our opponents.

We just have to be a step ahead. This is why Floyd has so much success in boxing. It is his movement.

He puts himself into his effective fighting range and outside of his opponents effective fighting range. This why I was able to take a knife from a person trying to attack without getting cut. It was the movement I learned in kata (tai sabaki).

I had the right angle for the situation. If it was a sport I would have punched them in the chin when I moved. But since it was self defense I controlled the weapon and rendered the attacker useless.

I was able to hold them until the authority came. The attacker had a sore wrist. I chose not to break it.

If it were more than one attacker I would have broken it and slammed them on the ground and took on the next person. Well that would have depended on the relation of the other attackers and the original one. I might have thrown the original one into one of the other attackers then choose which other attacker I'd take out next.

There is this guy that was my personal trainer. He is young and a mma fighter. I've gone to watch his fights.

On every fight in the beginning he does a spinning hook kick that misses. The kick is not bad. But he needs to learn how and when to use the kick.

I want to take him and teach him how to connect with this kick or anything else he does and needs to improve. His footwork, positioning, timing, and strategy are off. I don't know where he learned this.

This could have been from youtube, I don't know. But he needs to learn the more detailed things to improve. His list his style as thug jiu jitsu.

That makes me think he didn't have a teacher. I've invited him to train with us. I gave him another name and number of a mma coach that I know can fight.

They have talked, but he has never made the time to train with them. But since he left our gym he has moved to a big UFC gym as a personal trainer. He gets to train there and work on improving.

I hope that works out for him. I haven't seen him since the last fight I saw him. That was his only loss.

A few days after that I spoke with him and that when I found out about his new gym.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
