I agree! I think that in this world, even if someone does not have the same views and ideas as you, you should still help them in a time of need. Think of it on a smaller scale.

If your neighbor was always a jerk to you. No matter what you did, they would just be rude. They would throw their tree branches in your yard, or let their dog crap in your yard....When that person had a heart attack, would you just leave them to die?

No, you would help them if you could, or at least call 911 for them. Most people would not let them just die! It is no different that trying to help a country who is dying.

I don't think we should help those who are attacking us, but we could still help their country. I hate to say it, but it is almost like genocide. Killing all that don't believe in the same things that you believe in.

This is like killing people with disease that is curable. I know that we can't help everyone. I understand that from my background, but why not help the ones that we at least can!

I don't get it.

Schelli replied to post #1: 2 I'm quite certain that the hijackers thought the same thing, if, in fact there were any. Isn't that what terrorism is all about, killing or the threat of killing? If so, how can these actions be anything but the actions of a terrorist nation?

3 Calling it terrorism is a mistake, because it turns it into a gut reaction, instead of allowing us to discuss it rationally. I do think it's a bad idea to withhold vaccines, although it does seem that from the article, the countries can apply for the vaccines. In order to really understand the problem, I would need to see what the stipulations are for allowing these countries to have the vaccine.

I'm sure it's a rather complex situation. For example, it's entirely possible that the leaders wouldn't actually use the vaccine to help their people, but would use it as a way to punish political prisoners or establish a black market. Without understanding the whole picture, it's hard to give a reasonable judgment.

4 It is virtually impossible as a layperson to determine which vaccines could be used for evil and which are safe. I would hate to try and do a good deed and have thousands here die as a result. Those that wish us ill have no conscience.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
