Is Coraline too scary for children?

Honestly, I think that it is too scary for the target audience. Even I was a little scared when I first saw the trailer, what with the sewn-on button eyes and the overall creepy-type feel. I was 12.

Not only that, but I've watched much scarier. I don't think that it can be compared to Bambi or other Disney movies, as stated above. For little kids, some of this stuff is scary because they don't understand certain things.

The mood is magnified because they don't perceive it as a cat (for example), all they'll remember later in their nightmares is the 'freaky, weird green thing'. That's how I remember monsters from mildly scary movies from my childhood. Dark, scary music makes everything much scarier than it is for older people.

Things that they have never seen or heard of before cause fear. In conclusion, I seriously think that it is a movie for older kids. Maybe 10-12.

There are ghosts in "Coraline," too, plus a very scary insect-like predator who likes to replace children eyes with sewn-on black buttons and many other macabre and grotesque images. But is that scarier than "A Series of Unfortunate Events" or "The Wizard of Oz" or the Narnia movies? Is it scarier than Disney movies like "Bambi" or "The Lion King" (both feature the death of a parent) or fairy tales like "Hansel and Gretel" or "Snow White?"

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
