Is it easy to find a new apartment on craigslist?

It's extremely easy to find a new apartment on Craig's List. Users post open and soon-to-be-vacant apartments all the time. The website is also easy to use as you can limit your search to specific counties, cities, rent price, and number of bedrooms and bathrooms.

However, the information posted may not be clear. Since there are no required amount of information to be posted, posters can list very minimal information on the apartment. It can also be difficult to verify them.

For example, simply getting in touch with the poster can be an issue. Often, and understandably so, posters don't like to include their phone numbers in the ads. This can create delays as you're forced to communicate via emails.

Also, once rented, posters may not take down their ad; therefore, several existing listings may already be rented and you wouldn't know.

Yes, you can easily find apartments on Craig’s List. That is not to say you can find one that you want to move into. However, they have plenty on a regular basis.

But that is always true of any place you may want to live. You will probably get to pay a bit less than an apartment complex, since they will not have the same overhead as an apartment complex will have to pay to get their message out. The key with Craig’s List is trust.

You should check out the person offering the garage apartment or the basement downstairs very scrupulously before you rent. You will be living in a place they ultimately control. Maybe watch the movie Pacific Heights and/or Single White Female to get yourself completely scared and sober about the process.

You may want to talk with the person on the phone a good bit before you meet in person. Then check out their place with a friend in tow. Craig’s List is home to many unscrupulous individuals.
