With Craig’s List, you must verify any offer yourself. An apartment should be a bit easier to verify than some listings. If you mean a garage apartment or an apartment in someone’s home, that will be a bit more tricky.
The first thing you must remember is that old saying: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. First, speak with the owner of the apartment on the phone prior to meeting the person. Talk with that person to make as sure as possible that you are comfortable with him/her.
If you have the slightest hesitation, cut off communication and end the pursuit. Once you feel comfortable, agree to meet the person in public. You simply cannot be too sure.
If you feel good after that meeting, agree to visit the site, but only with a friend. Never, ever go alone, no matter how good the deal is offered. In fact, if the potential landlord is pushing you and sweetening the deal, that should trigger your “too good to be true†response.
With some simple precautions and discreet investigation, you can find a great place to live.
Craigslist is just like any other website in that you have to do your research. With apartment listings, they’ll provide you with either the company name, phone number or both. If they only provide the phone number, give them a call to verify the information in the listing then ask for their company name.
From there you can go to the Better Business Bureau website. This can give you a good history of the company. The Bureau assigns a grade for each company.
The highest grades go to companies that do not have any customer complaints or when they do have them, resolve them amicably. For the companies that have many and/or outstanding complaints, it should draw a red flag. Sometimes companies are not on file with the Bureau. In this case you should Google them and learn as much information about the company as you can.
Be sure to ask the property owner questions about rent, neighborhood, which utilities you will be responsible for and any additional policies they may have.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
