Id like to no that also! Like does it save money or what? .
You not only have to close off the vent that is putting out air, you have to block the air-return vent, the ones that never have air-control flaps. Use duct tape or a piece of cardboard and tape.
Like an empty refrigerator uses less energy, heating only the used rooms uses less energy.
In theory, yes. The increased airflow should cause the temp to drop faster in the rooms where the vents are open. In practice, it may not work depending on how the system is designed. It's easy enough to test though, try it and see.
DPD, it takes MORE energy to cool an empty fridge. Htm.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
