This seems so simple, yet so hard for some people to grasp. No two people are 100% equal. People who are not the same acting on the same equal opportunity will not result in equal outcomes.
This is precisely the flaw central to many feminist arguments and precisely why they get so hung up about men and women being equal and why they say gender is just a social construct. Their basic argument is that if equal people act on an equal opportunity, we should see an equal outcome, and if we don't it must be due to discrimination. The flaw of course is that there are in fact very real differences between men and women.
As you point out, athletics shows us no two people are equal. People vary tremendously in their abilities and interests. In fact, athletics is divided into women's and men's leagues because we acknowledge men and women are not equal in this area.
If all people were equal, there would be no need to have school entrance tests or athletic competitions, or do job interviews to find the best candidate. If everyone was really equal, it would make no difference who was selected because they would all be equally competent.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
