Sure, I'd dare say going to college for film will lessen your chances of becoming a filmmaker actually. Law is a solid career path on which to provide for yourself, but in the meantime you can pursue your dream to become a filmmaker. I think you're more likely to succeed that way as you don't need a degree to become a filmmaker, just talent and a lot of luck.
I'm doing something similar. I'm an education major and that in and of itself is something I really love, but I also want to be a novelist. But that's something I'm doing in my spare time.
Like film making, writing won't guarantee a person success. But that doesn't mean you can't try to make a name for yourself regardless, so long as you have a backup plan.
Personally, I find film school can be useful for contacts and networking, but to REALLY learn the how-to's, it's best done out on the job/set.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
