The sources that I have found which mention the idea of boiling a mouthpiece all say "Don't! " It is not necessary and is likely to warp (and hence ruin) your mouthpiece. It may be safe to boil a metal mouthpiece if you have one of those, but why?
Lukewarm soap and water is the way to go with a mouthpiece. If you play enough years to develop calcium deposits they can be removed with hydrogen peroxide. That's also a disinfectant, if you are worried about that.
Reeds don't last forever, but rotating a selection of four of them is said to extend their use. Artificial reeds last longer and might need washing with soap and water from time to time. Don't even think of boiling a reed.
My son plays the Clarinet. We just use good old fashion soap and water. If not, it is cheap enough to keep a few in reserve.
I would be concerned if boiling the reed would warp it. Sorry I could not be of more help.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
