Yes. Can you rent a room in a house for 400-600 a month? Yes, like every other city in the world.

Food is the same price if you go to a grocery store. Transportation is cheaper due to good public transit. I think it is much easier to live in a large city like LA if you aren't making much money.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
