Is it possible that my birth control pills are causing my sudden hair loss?

I am sorry to hear you experiencing hair loss. Birth control can indeed be the cause. I suggest you talk to your doctor.

He or she may tell you to continue taking the pill or perhaps they will suggest a different form of birth control. I have read a few studies in regards to hair loss and birth control. One of the studies suggested the hair loss is due to a change in the hormones when you first start taking the birth control.

Usually a doctor will have you continue the birth control and before you know it the hair loss will discontinue. It is still worth speaking to your doctor about. This to me is a medical related question and I always think it is best to consult your very own doctor and see his thoughts.
