After powering ON, press Del to open BIOS menu. Look for the SATA settings, usually under peripherals. Set it to SATA AHCI.
Some motherboards use RAID setting as default, thus the single hard drive can not be recognized. Also use SATA port 1. On some motherboards, SATA ports 5&6 use another controller chip that needs to be enabled (also in BIOS).
Newer motherboards also have the feature of enabling/disabling each SATA port. Save your setting and exit. You can check in BIOS menu if the drive shows up (means detected/recognized in BIOS).
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
