No it's not possible to Install windows off of an external hard drive as an ISO. You can however use a flash drive to install windows 7. How to create a windows 7 bootable flash drive http://arstechnica.com/business/news/200... not sure if you can do that for an external hard drive, might work the same way.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
