I did find this called Fructose Sugar.. which contains barley sugar... organicpharmacy.org/products/Fructose.Fr... I also found some recipes to make barley sugar... celtnet.org.uk/recipes/miscellaneous/fet... greenchronicle.com/recipes/barley_sugar.htm thefoody.com/mrsbsweets/barleysugar.html Googling "How to make Barley Sugar" seems to bring up a wealth of recipes to make it from items you can find easily at the store. I couldn't find any actual Barley sugar sellers either though, weird. Sounds like going into production and putting it on ebay could be profitable lol Edit: I think I confused myself.. I believe those recipes are actually for barley sugar candy....which can be bought: sweetieworld.co.uk/boiled_sweets/barley_... *keeps looking* Barley Malt extract purchase link: goodnessdirect.co.uk/cgi-local/frameset/... I found more but they are all UK based.
This thread: http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/cooking/msg011823425948.html Suggests trying organic health stores and beer brewing supply shops. It also suggests you can substitute molasses and honey (50/50) in most recipes for Barley extract. Hope that helps... not exactly a direct answer but.. all I could find.
My first thought would to be to try whole foods or another store such as that since it is often times used as a supplement, but I did find several companies that still sells barley malt syrup and syrup extract. I think perhaps the reason you had difficulty finding it with google is because most companies drop the extract from the name and refer to it as barley syrup. Our local brew shop also sells it, but if you purchase it there you will want to know if you want a light, medium, or dark syrup since this would affect the taste of the candy.
I would say if you aren't sure opt for medium. I didn't have luck finding premade barley sugar, but there are tons of recipes for making it. barryfarm.com/nutri_info/sugars/maltsyru... kingarthurflour.com/shop/items/organic-b....
Without them, life would not be possible. Even though our bodies contain thousands of different types of enzymes, most foods we eat are processed and cooked, which renders them devoid of all enzymes. We can obtain active enzymes from fresh, raw food.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
