I don't think they have been terribly strict on the 300 word rule in the past. You can find many pages with less or no content than that. They are getting better about it.As for the pay, if you live in India or someplace where making $3.00 for writing 300 words (essentially a penny a word) is more than some people make in a week or a month, then I suppose it is good money.
However, in other countries like the US, this kind of pay among freelance writers is cause for some hot debate. You can check any number of freelance websites and see the arguing over whether a penny a word is worth it: many professional writers do not, many new writers do.It is far from a livable source of income. So what do you get for a penny a word?
Usually not much - quick writing with minimal fact or resource checking. This site is interesting in that they require citing sources. However, I do not believe those sources are overly scrutinized.
Joe Schmoe with a nice looking site posting information (correct or incorrect) can be used as a source. So I can think of a topic, write it up, find someone on the net with a similar topic and post that as a sited link. Tada. $3.00.
I think that's how some people operate. There are some that really try but this isn't. You can check out many pages and see bad writing and bad content.
You can check out other pages and see good writing and good content but I think those are in the minority. I have seen some pages from mahalo people (some coupon pages) with absolutely no content. Like many cites, this one is geared for getting making pages with content that produce income through clicks - how tos and coupons make the most money so they are pushed.
People that have thousands of pages aren't going to go through and update the information on each page regularly, so there are a lot of pages languishing because no one looks at them. I actually like mahalo for other reasons - such as the q&a, and the social network/community. Getting established perhaps, you might be able to make some money on the residual clicks when people find the pages, like on any content site.
Though some of those at least pay per 1000 clicks or so. If you know the game up front, you can make a good decision about whether to jump in the pool or stay sunning up on the deck.
This policy isn't meant to be strict, it is meant to be a benefit to you. If you get paid 3.00 to write an article that has 150 words, what good will that article be if it is not indexed by google and other search engines? 300 word count seems easy compared to some websites that I have written articles for.
The more words your article is, the more room for SEO and the chance to throw more keywords in there. If you are gaining residual income from your Mahalo articles, you want at least 300 words. This helps you.
3.00 is more than fair you continue to gain residual income from it. Many other sites do not even offer that much, some not anything. The sources explain the importance of the word count in better details.
Yes it seems fair to me. It isn't like it takes days to come up with that amount of content.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
