Is Obama acting stupidly by telling the world if they attack us with chemical & biological weapons we?

This makes me very glad that I have already been vaccinated against smallpox and anthrax. Obama just gave the 'green light' for other countries to start biological and chemical warfare programs. It would have been much better if he kept the old policy where we reserve the right to respond to an attack on the American people with weapons of mass destruction (nuclear, chemical or biological weapons) with a response using our own weapons of mass destruction.

Did it occur to him that 'reserving the right' to do something does not mean that we have to do it? .

It accomplishes several things. It plays to the peacenik lunatic left fringe of his party, which might help him a bit. He might even have promised to do it to get the more socialist Democrat legislators on board the Health Reform boondoggle.

By caving to the Russians, he saves his political capital for domestic issues. Sure, it puts us in a weaker position, and further degrades the effectiveness of our deterrent forces, but the consequences likely won't come during his time in office. Setting time bombs for the next guy is risky (the next guy /could/ be another Dem), but sometimes it works.

Bush certainly left enough little surprises for Obama, afterall. It doesn't really matter, though. Bush was more of a Hawk than Obama could ever hope to present himself as, and he didn't respond to 9/11 with nukes.

Prior to this announcement, no one could really have thought that BO would have responded to /any/ attack short of an actual full-scale pre-emptive strike with nukes. Even an act of vaguely-deniable 'nucelear terrorism' would be unlikely to draw retaliation. So he was just admitting the truth because doing so might have paid some slight political dividends by shoring up his 'Dove' credentials which have been tarnished by Afghanistan.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
