Yes. Paying for at least part of the car expenses instills some responsibility into a teenager. A minimum wage part time job should easily cover fuel costs.
When I got my first car, I told my parents that I've got this and that I don't need their financial support for the car and car expenses. They already paying most of my other expenses. Raising a child is expensive and you don't want to further burden your parents.
Gas is now cheaper than it's been in a decade. Even mid NY state is at $2 a gallon or less. There's gas in NJ down at the low $1.60s.
You have a free car, likely with insurance and maintenance paid for by your parent's, too. Pay for something. Or, stop using the car.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
