Is President Obama's decision to grant same sex partners full rights during hospitalization a move toward legalizing gay marriage?

One is just human compassion, and one is a law that has to be passed by Congress. I've always thought that someone not being able to be with their loved one when they are dying is stupid.My friend went through that and he's totally heterosexual. S long time live in girlfriend was in a bad accident, and he could not be with her in intensive care because he was not family.

She died alone, crying out for him. Where is the human compassion in that? I hope he makes it applicable to ALL non-married long term couples.

Most hospitals will ignore the rules if it's a hetero couple, but stick to it for same sex couples. That's discrimination of the worst kind. Sometimes I pray that these hospital administrators who do that will die alone, screaming out for someone they love who isn't there.

It is another right that is heading in that direction. The real purpose of this is that Hospitals don't want people in severe conditions to be bothered by everyone. Now we have to hope that Hospitals don't decide noone sees the patient in that condition except through glass maybe.

I personally think Obama has his hand in to many things and is pissing off alot of people. If you don't want to see a Republican in office next you better vote independent because Obama is screwing it up for the Dems.

I hope it's a move to legalizing gay marriage. Separate rights are not equal rights.

I don't see how someone being gay or even "married" should affect there ability to be given full rights to a dying person.. considering you can grant full rights to whomever you deem as far as I know. I'm pretty sure unmarried folks do it all the time. Course admittedly I know little of the laws regarding that sort of thing.

I know they let me deemed my husband full rights during my first labor and we weren't married then. I agree the aim is probably to inch towards legalizing gay marriage, but it's a pointless step in my book.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
