Yes I would say they are one and the same. My Granny used to tell me that beauty is only skin deep but ugly is to the bone! There are lots of beautiful people out there who you look twice at because of their outer beauty and some of those people are beautiful inside as well, but there are those who are beautiful to look at, and once you get past the outer beauty there is nothing.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
