Is Stephen Colbert a republican or democrat?

I have heard he was a republican, although being famous and a regular on the daily show would hint otherwise. Does any one know and have a source for their information? S show pokes fun at both affiliations and is not necessarily reflected upon him.

No one knows for sure... ...but he has famously played to a left-wing crowd through most of his comic career, beginning with his roots on the Daily Show (which as you know leans to the left a bit - at least while there's a right-winger in the Oval Office anyway). On The Colbert Report he is more performing as a character than acting according to his true convictions. The show was created to mock Fox News, and the right-wing news establishment.

Only trouble is that he does such a good job of copying them that the lines of reality and parody have become blurred to many. So the truth is his words can mean whatever you take them to. But - in theory, according to the show's original concept - he is supposed to be poking fun at Republicans.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
