Little Miss Sunshine (sad and funny. And I LOVE the score 'The Winner Is', so beautiful) -Seven (this is a close one, L. A Confidential is a smart movie, but Seven my personal fave) -Gran Torino (brilliant movie.
Took my grandad to see this as he hadn't been to the cinema in years and he loves Clint Eastwood...we both cried!) -This is England (I really cannot express how rubbish and awful Green Street is. It's the most unrealistic movie ever, The Football Factory, The Firm and Cass are decent hooligan movies, actually made by people who know the facts about it...sorry I'm not attacking YOU Sucidial, it's just something I feel very strongly about! The accents in Green Street alone!
Theatre actors pretending to be cockney....terrible.) -Sin City (amazingly entertaining whilst the Kill Bills were some of Tarantino's weakest) -One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (no offence, but anyone who says Forrest Gump could BE Forrest Gump) -Slumdog Millionaire (another tough one! I like Trainspotting a lot, but given a choice between watching both movies tonight, I'd choose Slumdog. More uplifting and a super, interesting story) - Black Hawk Down.
(this is my favourite war movie anyway, the tag line "leave no man behind" sums up the integrity and bravery of the soldiers. And it's a true story as well. The Hurt Locker was very, very good but doesn't beat Ridley's finest work!) -Inglourious Basterds (literally no contest, a comic-book action movie vs one of the best movies of the last 10 years not to mention some of the finest work to ever come out of Tarantino.
Plus you get to see Hitler's face blown off.) BQ: The Lincoln Lawyer and The Princess & the Frog BBQ: In no particular order........... Inglourious Basterds, The Departed, Touching the Void, Pan's Labyrinth, Dead Man's Shoes, The Royal Tenenbaums, Spirited Away, Black Hawk Down...okay I cheated...8 movies! And there's still loads more too :).
(500) Days Of Summer LA Confidential Mystic River Green Street Hooligans Kill Bill (both volumes) Forrest Gump Trainspotting Black Hawk Down Inglorious Basterds Man It's so tough to pick between all of them, especially Seven vs. LA Con and Forrest Gump vs. OFOTCN. They're all one my favorites. BA: A Bronk Tale, Once Upon A Time in America, Midnight Run, As Good As It Gets, The Apostle, Striptease, Monty Phyton and the Holy Grail(not sure of the spelling) and Jaws.
BBA: Harry Potter Series, Inglourious Basterds, Black Swan, The Departed and The Prestige(One of the best Nolan Films that hasn't been recognized that much. This movie is a masterpiece. I like it better than The Dark Knight and Inception.).
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
