The Bhut Jolokia Chili Pepper (a.k.a. Ghost Pepper, Naga Jolokia, Dorset Naga, Naga Morich, etc.) is the hottest in the world! Jolokia peppers grown by the New Mexico Chile Pepper Institute registered at 1,001,304 Scoville heat units, while an Indian company grew a pepper even hotter.
The whopping 1,041,427 SHU was confirmed by the Guinness Book of World Records. The previous record holder was the Red Savina Habanero. The Jolokia is 2 1/2 times hotter than that.
