We're producing our cattle on marginal prairie and badlands unsuited for the cultivation of crops, so we're producing food in a niche that produces little else. I agree ethanol production should cease, however the spent mash makes excellent animal feed, the sugars are missing but the protein content is unaffected and could even be used by humans. We use the mash from a local ethanol distillery as a supplement to the low nutritional hay and straw we feed to our cattle.

What makes no sense is the distillery has to import the corn because we don't produce it locally - which is really dumb. Most of the US is in a drought but our little corner of N. Dakota will produce record crops this year.

The other answers are sort of right, at least the second one is. Management of the crops has a lot to do with it. On another note, in the event a LOT less people ate meat (or we stopped feeding cows grain and ground chicken and chicken grain and ground cow) then yes, there would be more food that could go around.

I believe with the amount of grain you feed one cow in a day, you could feed 100 people. I don't know the number off the top of my head. But I DO know that if all Americans became vegan, it would free enough grain to feed 600,000,000 people (the population of India).

Sooooooo, in a way, yes, veganism could help avert it. But, management of the grain and vegetables would affect it as well.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
