Seeing that he is not part of the Church of England he isn't a Vicar. Also, Catholics don't believe he has direct communications with Christ or God, it is his job to pray and oversee many of the operations of the majority of the Roman Catholic Church. It is powers granted by his position that allow him to delegate the authority in the Church, but he is the only one allowed to do this, he has final say in all Church related business, activities and personnel, the Pope has the authority to remove anybody from the church also, this includes excommunication from the church, which is extremely rare now days.
As for Vicar of the Devil that is a statement made by other Christians who don't recognise the Catholic Church in general as a legitimate christian religion. More.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
