Its a setting thats been triggered when your lap top monitor went south , easy method would be to pull the cmos battery / or reset the output in the bios to the other monitor. It also could be triggered by corrupted videocard drivers , have you tried going into safe mode? Should be listed under display settings.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
