Whether the kid was intellectually up to it was never the issue. At about that age anyone can achieve anything barring special needs considerations. It was always a question of how to move on in a positive way.

The high school diploma is the standard issue and you should finish high school if at all possible. Having said that, it is not always possible. If you are ditching hegh school because you are lazy..well.. your lack of drive is the problem not a diploma vs GED.

If not read on. If you have been out of school for a while pursuing a GED is the best route. If you have other pressing issues in your life and simply can’t continue high school then by all means take the GED test as soon as you feel you are able.

Employers who are considering potential employees out of high school are looking at other qualities. For example how you present yourself, your skill sets and your eagerness.

A diploma vs a GED is not a big issue. If you will be appling to universities or trade schools then, in my opinion (once again) the following applies: If you are applying to colleges that are going to look at that sort of thing then avoid those schools for your first semester. After that your grades are all they care about.

If you did well on your SATs most colleges will overlook a GED versus a diploma especially a private one. It is all about what gets you where you need to go. Decribe your situation to your college counselor and work it into your application essay.

Once you have made your decision follow through to the end. No sitting around musing over the whole thing; just get going. Stop talking, stay off the computer (look whose talking) and fill-out those applications (work or school) very carefully and completely.

Actually, many employers prefer the GED to the high school diploma. The diploma is largely a measure of attendance. One can get a diploma by showing up and doing the D- minimum because the grades never appear on the document itself.

The GED, on the other hand, demonstrates that the person actually did the work to learn the stuff and has the discipline to stick thru a process to its successful conclusion. Who cares what anyone else thinks? .

There are GED's better than a college degree because of, the individual who gains the GED. It would be difficult to come up with an accurate number of genuinely stupid college graduates. If the student applies him/her self, there is no reason they shouldn’t be equal to the average college sophomore.

It is the student and what they have learned and NOT the degree. Remember our last President? He had a Masters from Yale.

That degree is worth less than the average GED. Why? Because one must work to gain a GED.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
