Yes, I am the parent of a child with OCD and ADHD and a parent of a child with Mild ADHD and ticks slight touretts maybe. I am also an MFT with an M.A. In that degree. I lived with it and here I was suppose to o be a professional and help my daughter. My daughter ate with her OCD, did ok in school but would come home and cry everyday and have tantrums.

I was at my wits end; she was miserable and very over weight. Took matters into my own hands and sought out help. We gave her medication, the change was dramatic and she lost 15 pounds and, concentrates in school, making friends and loves her life now, she is a happy girl.

The fact remains that she was not getting enough Dopamine in her brain, the medication provided this, and because she is on medication there is now a good chance that by puberty her own body may be able to produce the dopamine, it may not but she is a changed girl. I don't understand why parents won't consider meds, it is the same as a child with diabetes who needs insulin, and a parent not providing that.My son is very different with his ADHD, we give him a very low dose of meds just for school, none on the weekend and none over summer, he for sure will probably be ok after puberty. ADHD is genetic and very common in family that has ADHD to pass it on to their children.

If you have any more questions I will be more than happy to answer.

I am so with you! My daughter is now 23 years old. She was diagnosed with ADHD,ODD, Autism, MR, Mood disorder, Epilesy at the age of 7.

I also have another child with no problems, and 2 step children. It has been a long road. I can fully relate to balancing it all out.

Other children, marriage, working and getting your child the help they need. Vent or talk all you want, I will listen.

Me just mom! Glad to find you. Oh dear God....i am the mom of a child 12 yr old girl (dx mood disorders- general), father refused to medicate years back (abilify was Rx-= never given....nothing else ever tried), I fear for her future (unlikeable behaviors, losing friends, anger, weight gain- signs of depression, but I believe just a result of the ODD and it's toll), her health overall, my younger child- (who is stressed out, scared/ scarred from all the hostility and fighting, as well as his frustrations w/ older sis being bossy, mean, etc), my health (lupus, tired to begin with- and then having to deal with this 1 child is = to 3 easy children!)...well, totally at wits end.

Ugh. Doesn't help that marriage fell apart, (not due to this but it is all tied in)..... would love a support group. Life has been bad & sad for ALL of us due to the behavior problems of sweet beautiful challenging child.

:(((.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
