They can definitely be. Granted, you can’t take them out of their tank and take them around the block for a walk, but they can keep you occupied for hours on end just observing their behavior in the world that you put them in. It builds character, in being responsible for another living being, even if it’s only a fish.
That fish depends on you for so much, and certain fish have so much personality it’s uncanny! On breeding them, it’s certainly entertaining watching the parents take care of their fry, and defend the nest from any other fish. Certain types have awesome parental instincts!
But there is much to consider before you plan to breed fish. Do you have room for the fry? What are you gonna do with them once they reach a larger size?
Do you have another tank to house them in? On keeping and caring for fish, well it highly depends on which fish you want to keep. Not all fish require the same care.
For instance, Goldfish are coldwater fish are really don’t require a heater, while tropicals and cichlids require heaters. Bettas don’t like a lot of current, while others like algae eaters who come from fast paced streams in Tailand, relish current and a lot of aeration.
Depending on the fish, they can be amazing pets! I'm partial to goldfish; they can live for up to 20 years, are intelligent and readily interact with their owner. They each have their own personality and preferences to boot.
However, despite common misconception I wouldn't recommend goldfish as a first time fish, unless you've done a good bit of research into them. They're unbelievably messy, oxygen hogs, and grow quite large. The best advice I have for learning about fishkeeping would be to start by googling 'fishless cycling'.
It's a humane way of cycling your tank - allowing the necessary beneficial bacteria time to grow and culture in the filter media - without the need for exposing fish to harsh conditions. There are LOTS of very good articles out there! Also look into any particular fish you have an interest in keeping, and pay close attention to whether they'd be recommended for a beginner or not.
Very good fonts of information lie in forums; most people will jump at the chance to help you plan out a new tank for the first time, and what sort of fish would be suitable for you.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
