Red wine definitely. Can't believe there is another fan of the Coonawarra region of Australia here! Not the easiest wine to find if outside of the Australia/NZ region, but well worth it if you can get it.
Great question - Depends what I am eating but if I have to nominate one I would have to say - a French Bordeaux or a red from the Coonawarra region of Austria - ll of Grace would be my favorite :).
I am a total white wine drinker, anything red gives me the worst headache before I am finished two glasses.
Thanks to everyone for your great comments and answers to my question.
White Zinfandel....Never mind the name it's red! (actually pink). The great thing about not having a sophisticated wine pallet, is I only pay $3.00 a bottle at Wal-mart.
I've always liked white wine for some reason. August Sebastian White Zinfendel used to be my favorite, but no longer can find it by my house.
My favorite wine is cabernet sauvignon. Dry and red. Delish!
I don't care much for white wine, or even rose. Sweet wines taste like fruit juice to me.
I drink Madiran Red Wine from the South of France. I love it at meal times, meals just aren't the same without it! Xxx.
I love red wine, I'm a big Pinot Noir fan as the flavours are so delicate and complex. Has to be a good year though, it is easy for Pinot Noir to have a bad growth.
I grew up, some years ago, in the green English countryside. Steaming hot bonanza summers, lazy rivers and horse-bugs all hovered low on the land, dancing their pickled bodies all bare against the sunny evening sky. It was perfect for me, magical, and me as a young busy kid full of mischief and temper, with so many hay fields to run havoc in, so many dogs to chase - it was fun.It was during those care free evenings, during the mad haze, that the first virgin wafts of warmed fruity red wine wandered vicariously up my kiddie palette, infecting my button nose.
It was all adult and alien, something not to consume. Off limits, not for children, - naughty! Those first smells, those loud wafts, crawled all baby-like up my fresh little nostrils.
It was just SO alien to me and I remember, as my parents lazed themselves morbidly against creaking sun decks and tattered sun loungers - the deep red shine of it reflecting on the scorched paving. What was this juice? What was it's magic?
What goodness lied In it? I'd dip a single pinky finger into the liquid and lick it like a dog. Surely the glory of ten dying miracles awaited me?
Surely my infancy was ended - a new joy, a new fat toy of red liquid pleasure was now upon me? No - I'm afraid not, none but sour and spoils. None but vinegar and taste terror, none but poison!
What an awful spell. I'd spit out the devils remnants - what a trick gone wrong. Yuck - a foul tempest forced on my buds, no more please!
And so I left red wine, and did none but touch it, for twenty years distance believe it or not! Last summer however, as an adult, I requited myself again, became again with it, became the devils customer once more and now, me and old pal red wine, are pals once again. Yes, red wine - beautiful, thanks for the asking the question.
Lot depends on mood, but also food choice, but for just relaxing on a warm summer evening a nice SauvignonBlanc is enjoyable.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
