I've had a pain in my lower left abdomen for 3 years, am I dying?

I've had a pain in my lower left abdomen for 3 years. Lately it's been getting more consistent. At times it's dull and at times it's sharp. The location is very close to my hip bone on the left side.

It seems best when I just wake up. I've had an ultrasound done but they couldn't find anything. What can it be?

You could be. After 3 years a minor problem could be a major complication. It could also be a muscle problem.

I had a friend that went to a doctor with a back problem In the course of the examination the doctor determined that he had prostrate cancer & it had spread to the pelvis and it was too late to do anything about it. He was way to young for that to have been an issue in his health. But it was.

I ruptured my appendix. I had no fever, no abdominal pain, my white count was normal, ultra sounds showed nothing, there were x-rays & they showed nothing and a few more things that I wasn’t conscious for. The ER doctor couldn’t figure anything out, so he called in a cardiac doctor because he thought it might be an aortic aneurism, the cardiac guy called in an internal medicine doctor because he thought it was an intestinal blockage.

The intestinal doc didn’t agree, so they called in a surgeon. He created a 14 inch vertical incision before they determined it was my appendix. The internal medicine & the cardiac doctors also attended the surgery, because they weren’t sure what they would find.At one point before surgery, when I was conscious, I had the above 4 doctors standing around my table & another doctor, an anethescist was there also.

Someone else in the ER was standing there holding his left elbow with his right arm, he says, " I could use some help over here". One of those doctors said, "You are going to have to wait, we’ve got a real serious problem over here. I thought that was kind of neat.

The point of the above is not to tell my life story, but to tell you to keep on seeking out doctors until you have an answer. Everything is not always a clear cut as it is on TV & not every doctor is like House that can solve the medical mysteries in an hour. Reality is: You have a pain where there should not be a pain, and that in itself is a problem.

In re-reading your details, odds do not favor it being a stress use/muscle problem. Since it is most noticeable when you awake..

Everyone is dying. Some of us take longer than others. Have you had a colonoscopy?

If one doctor can't find the problem, get another doctor. Does it vary with eating, with bowel movements? Is it tender to touch?

If your doctor is not asking the right questions, get another doctor. It's your body, you need to be in charge of your medical treatment.

We are all dying... Some faster than others. I would get an MRI so they can see the soft tissue of your body. Sonograms are cheap and they are a very dirty picture... hard to make out a problem. An X-ray is a bad choice too.. shows dense tissue (bone, etc)... can't see much.

MRIs are very good for this kind of diagnostic. If it were me I would make the medical professionals do something... I don't know... maybe exaggerate your pain some so they get the message. Sources: IMHO .

Get checked However, when it comes to matters of health it's best to consult the medical people only in case it's serious and not take random advice from anyone. I'm sure if the pain becomes intolerable you will eventually need a thorough medical checkup, blood tests, etc.I can only add that it's always a good idea to get a second opinion from another doctor.

I don't know, but maybe pancreas. Celiac diet (no dairy or gluten grains) can cure almost anything when the immune... system is involved. Without the diet medicines don't help a celiac person.

Intestines? Celiac wrecks intestines. It comes from heritage where sunlight was low.... like Scotland, England, Ireland etc..

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
