UTI man they hurt and the older we get the worse the symptoms get...in fact once you have one you are predisposed forever...the older persons with urinary tract infctions can suffer hallucinatiuions and signs of dementia it can get bad so fast they become septic and then treatment is not as simple as take these horsepills twicea day for 7-10 days and see me (the MD) in 2 wks. UTI can sometimes be caused from baths, actually sitting down to bathe, or from sitting in one spot too long with heat and moisture causing bacteria to grow in the periarea. Chasuk is correct...the bacteria usually staph, proteus or klebsiella, travel up the ureter and settle into the bladder..if untreatd it continues to travel and gets into the kidneys causing a kidney infection...cranberry juice changes the Ph of the urine but does not prevent infections, it prevents stones...good handwashing, drinking plenty of water and going to the bathroom often, emeptying bladder fully and avoiding tub baths actually are the best ways to prevent a urinary tract infection...good luck...its 8 dys she should be much better..the drug of choice is usually bactrim DS or sulfa...make sure she takes every dose to avoid a resistant tract infection and be sure to keep the follow up appt...they will take another urine specimen to be sure its completly gone!

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
