I've heard the average woman in the USA owns 27 pairs of shoes. Where do you fall compared to the average? Hmmmmmmmmm...... let's count. I have 4 pairs of dress shoes; two pair of tennis shoes; 1 pair of sandals; and lots of pairs of flip-flops that my mother in law brings me. If you count the flip flops I'm probably pretty close to average.
If you don't count the flip-flops then I'm way below. I want some boots to go under skirts on cold days and I'll be set, I think.
Well below average.. 1 pair rain boots 1 pair of hiking boots 2 pairs of tennis shoes suitable for trudging through woods and fields 2 pairs of tennis shoes for other things- shopping, etc (one still in the box for later) 1 pair of Keds for summer 2 pairs of sandals for summer (one still in the box for later/2009) 2 pairs of slippers (winter and summer) No dress shoes- yuck 11 in total. Sources: me .
I am below average. I just went through my whole closet and house and counted - I have 21 pairs of shoes (or 22 if you count my bedroom slippers. ) 1 pair of winter boots 2 pairs of sneakers - 1 newer that I wear almost daily and 1 older pair that I just use with my elliptical machine or if I had to do something messy like paint 4 pairs of slip-on gardening mocs (one or two pairs by each door leading outside, so I don't have to hunt for a pair if I go outside to fill bird feeders, pick tomatoes, water plants, get the mail, etc.) 2 pairs of casual sandals - for summer wear, one leather and one that you can get wet (with the rubber sole and colorful nylon straps and Velcro closures) 12 pairs of dress pumps/dress sandals/mary janes/loafers/etc. - although there are at least two or three pair in that bunch that I ought to get rid of because I don't really have any outfits anymore that they go with .
If you count outside boots, bedroom slippers, and four pairs of sneakers about average. Dark, light, and medium sandals and closed-toe shoes. My husband and I are the same height, so I don’t wear heels.
I haven’t gone into the closet and the mud room to count, but I’m probably not too far off....maybe closer to twenty than 27.... As long as I look ’put together’ I don’t worry too much about style and the latest fashions. Because of arthritis in my feet, I do need comfortable shoes, so that is really a priority. And when some are comfortable and look nice, that is wonderful.
It surprised me I always considered myself indifferent to shoes, but when I actually think about it, I guess I'm a little above average, to say the least. My inventory: Dress pumps - 7 (navy, black, brown, white, taupe, bone, patent leather) Dress flats - 3 (navy, black, brown) Dress sandals - 3 (navy, black, brown) Other leather sandals - 4 Dress boots - 2 (black, brown) Hiking boots - 2 Sneakers/walking shoes - 3 Boat shoes - 2 Beach shoes (for kayaking and walking in shellfish areas) - 2 Waterproof dog-walking slip-ons - 1 Garden clogs - 1 Crocs - 1 Wellies - 1 (bright yellow knee-high rubber boots) And my weakness, flip flops - at least 20, in every color and fun pattern. My favorites are red with white polka dots, black with pink flamingos, and ones that light up when I walk These are all I can remember off-hand.
I'm sure if I checked the various places I keep shoes, I'd only embarrass myself more. I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
