I've lost weight, through diet & exercise. I'm eating healthy, adopting a vegetarian life style. My BP is still high,Why?
I have lost fifteen pounds over the last five months going from 145 to 130. Since I am a short person,I would like to lose another fifteen. I feel that I am a relatively happy, healthy person other than the high blood pressure.
I am baffled. I don't understand why it is high...running about 160/90. I only eat organic food, don't eat salt, try to be and stay active.
Any ideas as to why it would be high? I also take vitamin supplements including potassium and magnesium, along with vitamin D,also drink milk. Some people just have high blood pressure. If you do all the right things and still have high blood pressure, you have to take medication. In your case it may be genetic.
First of all, I applaud you for all the great changes you have made in your life! You have increased your chances of living a longer and healthier life, and if you do have medical issues in the future, you will handle them better because your overall physical status is so good. Having said all that, there are some things you cannot change and cannot control, and those things are the tendencies that you inherited.
And unless you have an undiagnosed, underlying health condition, you have most likely inherited a tendency to have hypertension (and possibly high cholesterol, high triglycerides, and/or clogged arteries as well. )Unfortunately, even though you have done all the hard work, losing weight, increasing your activity level and eating an organic, vegetarian diet, you are likely going to need medication to control your high blood pressure. I know that sucks, and it doesn't seem fair (and isn't!) when you are leading such a healthy lifestyle.
But, to put it bluntly, it doesn't really matter why your blood pressure is high: it is just as dangerous for you in your situation as it is for someone whose high blood pressure is caused by being sedentary, overweight, and eating a high-fat, high-salt junk food diet. No matter what the cause, high blood pressure is dangerous, and you have to get it under control, or you are on the road to atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), then clogged arteries, then heart attack or stroke. The higher your blood pressure, the harder the blood pulses against the delicate linings of your arteries with every heartbeat, doing a tiny but incremental amount of damage.
And in almost every instance, you will feel just fine, up until the point that you have your first heart attack or stroke. If you haven't had a complete physical, I strongly urge you to do so. Find out the cause of your hypertension, or at least, rule out any underlying causes that may be correctable.
Then do whatever is necessary to get your B/P under control! Take care,KatherinePS. May I ask what your age is, and are you female?
And what was your blood pressure before you lost weight and changed your diet? .
Maybe the foods you are consuming are not nutrient rich. If you juice tons of vegetables and fruits daily you will get far better nutrients than any pill could give you. It may be genetic but before you decide it is at least try juicing.. it may lower your high BP.
Best thing is that its all natural! Com.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
