Joseph Smith said he saw God the father (and Jesus) in the first vision in 1820. Smith said he?

I am confused by his claim because it says in John 1:18"No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known. "And again in John 6:46"No one has seen the Father except the one Jesus who is from God; only he has seen the Father. "If you believe the words of Jesus, than Joseph Smith could not have seen God.

The passage in John helps to understand the context a little-John: 35- 40Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe.

All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.

For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

The key word to your question is "said". Like any religion claims are made that can never be proven but sheep follow the shepard anyway. He didn't see jesus, god, satan or any such thing.

He saw a way to become a religious leader and viola, he got what he wanted.

Ummm, number one: Joseph Smith didn't see God and Jesus, he saw Satan, who, according to the Bible has the power to appear to people disguised as an angel bathed in light. Number Two: I think the priesthood he thought he had was the Melchizedek Priesthood, which was only held by two people: Melchizedek and Jesus.

1 PETER 2:5,9 Says that we are a royal priesthood acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Now concerning the Priestly office of the Levitical priesthood and the high priest who made intercession for the people before God, Jesus is now the highpriest who ever makes intercession for us before God! Jesus said that flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. And according to John 1:13 when you receive Jesus you are born of the spirit. Exodus 33:20 states that "no man shall see God and live."

So it is no new revelation what Joseph Smith just regurgitated. According to 2Corinthians 5:17 Once you receive Christ you are a new creature, born of the spirit. So under the new covenant it's not far-fetched for someone to have seen God face to face.

Don't believe in just anything that comes your way,touch it and see what is real and what is false,Joseph Smith never saw anything but what satan brought from his own thoughts.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
