The Left says: We REFUSE to balance the budget on the backs of the poor. The Right says: We refuse to block any recovery by raising taxes on those who will use their wealth to grow the economy. I say: Compromise.
The poor are poor because they produce nothing of value (or they are so stupid that they waste their assets on foolishness). Why reward that? Yes, we should not leave them in the lurch, but continuing to flush assets down a rat hole makes no sense at all.
Same with paying people for two years because they lost their job. After 26 weeks, start cutting their "benefits" by dropping them 10% every four weeks until they receive a so little they will actually find it worthwhile to take any job they can get. - If they are truly capable, they will create a grand future for themselves as entrepreneurs.
The rich? First prove the elected officials will cut the waste. (That requires voters ridding Congress of those who waste.) We all know they will continue wasting money if we give it to them.
Raise the taxes on the Rich that are Exporting Jobs. Finally: Once we can all agree the Government is acting in a responsible manner, Begin raising taxes on the most wealthy gradually to start paying off the debt. Never stop holding the feet of the Congress to the fire.
They have Power and Power corrupts. The votes MUST be aware of corruption and not reelect any officials who display a tendancy to act in a questionable manner.
It is not a spending cut strictly speaking, but it has the exact same effect on the bottom line. This isn't nearly as much of a stretch as "tax cuts pay for themselves" or "tax cuts increase revenue.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
