Looking for a book - on another planet all adults are killed by creatures and only children survive?

I am trying to find the title of a book I read when I was at school (so about 10 years ago). All I can remember is that it was about a group of people who had started colonising a new planet. The children didn't feel as safe so whereas the adults were farming and building houses, the children chose to be schooled in the space ship.

One day, a mass of insects/bugs/creatures swarmed over the settlement and destroyed everything, killing all the adults and the houses and everything, but the children survived as they were in the metal spaceship. It was then about the children surviving and stuff. Really cannot seem to find the title of this book!

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
